PERSONALITYLionstar is so much more than just a pretty face. Easily the most attractive member of the clan, it doesn't take much for him to get his own way, as most just fawn at the sight of him. However, as deputy, they have to listen to him anyway. As a rather headstrong individual, he tends to clash with the ex-leader, though a significant reason for this was simply Stonecloud's inability to lead the clan effectively. Before having the leadership thrust on him, he never wanted to be a leader, but Lionstar manages to deal with whatever gets thrown at him. He can be unbelievably selfless in the right situations, though remarkably doesn't have a soft spot for kits. Generally speaking, he finds them insufferable and tends to avoid them. Apprentices he can deal with though.
Due to his upbringing, Lionstar is an extremely loyal cat; if you earn his friendship, expect him to stand by your side. His previous clan shaped him, but his current clan allows him to be better than he ever thought he could be. Prone to bursts of mild anxiety, especially in regards to his status as leader, he can sometimes become flustered when delegating roles and making the clan run. If this happens, he usually retreats to his den and doesn't show his face for a few days, letting the embarrassment wash over him, with Stonecloud bringing him fresh-kill. Lionstar can feel like a bit of a failure when things go wrong in the camp, and takes a lot of blame on himself even when things are definitely not his fault. Overall, his headstrong nature can cause him to clash with other clan members, but his heart is in the right place. |
HISTORYBorn and raised in HoneyClan, Lionkit was the pride of his family. Sure, his sister Rosekit was equally as sweet as he was, but there was a spark in Lionkit's eyes that wasn't reflected in his sister's own. Sunbelly, the deputy of the clan, was unbelievably proud to see such a strong warrior in such a small kit. Dapplekit sat in the shadows of her brother, never receiving the same amount of attention as her brother. Her parents loved her, and so did her brother, but Lionkit...he was the star the clan needed. He became known for knocking over the other kits, both younger and older than himself. Life was all fun and games for the first few moons; food was there when he wanted it, his sister was his best playmate, and life was pretty much perfect. However, things started changing for the worst when Lionkit became Lionpaw.
His apprenticeship wasn't terribly difficult. His mentor was a black she-cat called Ivywhisker; one of the most skilled hunters of the clan, and any apprentice would have been blessed by StarClan to have her as their mentor. Lionpaw and Ivywhisker were extremely close, as the she-cat was a fairly new warrior herself. His sister Rosepaw was assigned to their father Oaktail, and the two mentors would constantly take the siblings out together to practice hunting and fighting techniques. It was smooth sailing. Or it was until Rosepaw got to know a group of rogues that stayed just outside the clan. Lionpaw never fully understood how she came to meet them, though his sister claimed she bumped into them on a patrol, earning a fierce scolding from her brother for not telling any of the warriors. She started to change; became more snarky when he asked her for help, or completely ignoring him when he wanted to train with her. Each day became a chore to complete as he started losing his closest friend. When Lionpaw's test day showed up, Rosepaw looked at him in disgust, like he was nothing more than dirt. He was only 11 moons old, and Applestar believed that he was at the level to become a warrior early. He was only barely losing to the senior warriors in combat, and his hunting skills were almost on par with Ivywhisker's own. He was sent out into the nearby forest to catch the largest bird he could; a tradition of HoneyClan's. Instead of sticking to the forest, however, he ventured out towards the coastline and managed to snag himself a gull. Everyone was shocked when he walked back into camp with Ivywhisker at his side, beaming with pride. His parents surrounded him, telling him how great he was, and how he was an asset to the clan. Rosepaw, however, stood back and watched on in silence, not daring to make eye contact with him. Applestar gave Lionpaw the warrior name of Lionwing, in honour of his abnormal yet astounding catch, and his will to fly above the other apprentices to do his absolute best. Rosepaw didn't care. Just over a moon after Lionwing's apprentice task, Rosepaw came back to the clan carrying a blackbird in her jaw. She had ventured out into the forest for much longer than any other apprentices, and only made it back to camp as the moon started to rise, and earnt the name Roseflame. Her parents cheered for her as she received her name, but Lionwing cheered louder than anyone else. Roseflame sat vigil that night, as any new warrior would, but things went south fast. She was the only cat standing guard at the time, and before anyone could react, a band of cats attacked the camp. Claws and blood flew, but it was over almost as fast as it started, with no cats leaving to greet StarClan. Or, well, nobody except Sunbelly. Wounds covered her stomach and she was dead before anyone reached her. Roseflame's screams rang through the camp. Lionwing knew she felt guilty for not stopping the attack, but she had a glint in her eye that suggested something darker. He cornered her before allowing himself to grieve for his mother, questioning her, forcing her to tell him the truth. Through her sobs she confessed that they were the same cats that she'd been speaking to, but she never told them where the camp was; never knew that they were planning to attack. Moons passed with Sunbelly's death, and Lionwing never knew what to believe. Was his sister really responsible for their mother's death; did she tell the rogues that she would be on vigil after becoming a warrior, allowing them to sneak in undetected? He never found out. A sickly thin brown tabby tom took Sunbelly's deputy spot. Twigtail wasn't a great fighter, but was unbelievably good with words. Lionwing never really knew what it was, but something never sat right in him when he saw the tom in his mother's spot. Applestar lost two lives to greencough shortly after, and Twigtail was named Twigstar. Despite the uneasiness he felt, Lionwing was more than grateful for Twigtail to name him as his deputy. Unlike his warrior ceremony, Roseflame shouted when she saw her brother given such a powerful position. Delegating duties, suggesting mentors for apprentices, leading patrols; life felt perfect. Like he was a kit again. Not terribly long after he was appointed deputy, Oaktail came down with greencough, and like their previous leader, lost his life. Lionwing was shattered, but Roseflame was worse. She spent days in the warrior's den, barely sleeping, barely eating. Lionwing refused to give her any duties, despite Twigstar's sharp words. He couldn't bring himself to force his sister to do anything, not after losing their father. Seasons passed without complications, but StarClan had other plans. At first, the dreams were just a little strange; abnormal, but nothing worth talking about. Then they started showing mountains covered in stardust, like they had never been discovered. Then one night, Lionwing witnessed a large group of cats, possibly a clan, dying in collapsed tunnels. He felt sick, and decided to speak to the medicine cat Adderfang, but even he didn't know what was happening to the ginger tom. It was that night that Sunbelly appeared to him. Despite how much he wanted to share tongues with her, his mother sat him down and explained things in the only way she could; a prophecy. "Leave this place and find a stone within a boulder." So he did just that. Stepped down from his deputy position, walked out of the clan and didn't look back. Or at least until Roseflame caught up to him. She didn't try and stop him, but instead apologised for trying to steal all the attention he deserved. The heartfelt moment was cut short when Lionwing started walking away, leaving his sister and closest friend behind. "Be careful, Lionwing. Come home someday." |
