The cool wind whispered in Stonestar's ears as he walked down the rocks, leaving his empty camp. It was a strange feeling, leaving behind that was apparently so important to StarClan unprotected, but he had to patrol his borders. Maybe he'd try and kill a mouse or two; just something to keep his stomach from aching. As he wandered, he caught the scent of another cat. Faint, but fresh. The grey tom followed the scent until he reached the edge of the forest. A bright ginger cat sat in a small clearing, his back towards Stonestar.
"Who are you and why are you in my territory?" Stonestar spoke softly though loud enough to gain the other's attention, hoping that the intruder wouldn't attack him. He wasn't a great fighter, really, and avoiding conflict with a new cat would be the best end to this confrontation. The cat turned quickly, but seemed to pose no imminent threat.
"My name is Lionwing. I didn't mean to intrude on your territory." The ginger tom looked to the ground and took a breath. "I wasn't entirely paying attention to scents, so I didn't notice the border. Who is your leader?" Lionwing flicked an ear at the other cat, waiting for his reply.
"I am Stonestar, leader of BoulderClan." He said firmly. The other tom's eyes widened, much to the confusion of the leader.
"I hail from HoneyClan, a very long way away. One of our ancestors, Sunbelly, told me to find a stone inside a boulder. She spoke with such urgency and such fear that I told my leader that I would have to step down from deputy and leave. He didn't entirely understand, but it's not everyday that a deputy receives a prophecy from StarClan." Stonestar listened as Lionwing told his story, nodding slowly in understanding. This tom was a deputy; he must have been powerful, strong, and hopefully a fair warrior.
Stonestar told his story when Lionwing had finished, detailing his loner life and how the ancestor Lilyfoot guided him to BoulderClan's location. The ginger tom was almost shocked when he heard that a simple loner had founded his own clan. "You must be pretty special then."
"I'd say so." Stonestar replied with a breathy laugh. "I'd love for you to come back to the camp. There's barely any fresh-kill, so maybe we could hunt along the way? I'm sure you could teach me a thing or two."
The two toms set off into the forest, relishing in their newfound friendship.
