"We're out of food again." Lionwing watched as Stonestar rolled over to face him, still sunning himself. "You really need to pull your weight, Stonestar. You're theleader of this clan. You can't just sit around and make me do everything for you." The ginger tom towered over the smaller tabby, glaring at him.
"I'm the leader though, Lionwing. The leader. That means I just look over the clan, not go and get food." Stonestar replied, flicking his ear. The other growled low and deep.
"I don't care what the leader does. We are the only members of this clan. I cannot constantly leave the clan to protect the borders and find food. This camp is empty! The fresh-kill pile is non-existent. I can't be left doing everything!" Lionwing's voice raised, and Stonestar carefully stood up. He looked up at the older cat and sighed.
"You're right. I'm sorry." The ginger's eyes widened as he heard his leader speak. "I just feel so helpless. I can't catch a mouse in front of my paws, let alone anything you bring in. I avoid it so I don't make a fool of myself." Without waiting for a reply, Stonestar hopped down from his perch and stalked out of camp. It was unusual to see a cat so full of life looking so down. Lionwing quickly followed, running out after his leader, ready and willing to help.
describe your leader's and deputy's relationship (181/100)
The relationship between Stonestar and Lionwing is one built on appreciation. Whilst all leaders and deputies should get along, the fact that the BoulderClan deputy was the second official member of the clan makes the relationship between them even more important. There's a mutual respect between them both, though it's clear that Lionwing acts more like a leader. As he was born into a separate clan and was raised with the Warrior Code, he basically became Stonestar's mentor, teaching him everything he knew about how to be a warrior. Lionwing ultimately looks up to Stonestar due to his history, and pretty bad family life. Being through all of that and being able to make it out and survive is something that the ginger tom greatly admires. Likewise, the grey tabby finds great comfort and respect in how far Lionwing had come to make it to BoulderClan, and he appreciates all the help the older cat gives him in leading the clan. Overall, their relationship is very much based around appreciating what the other is capable of, and how far they've come.
